May 2013 Letter From the Publisher

Enter the Natural Awakenings Consciousness Contest

Greetings! Pat and I have been re-energized by the warmer weather and decided to do something out-of-the-box with this month’s letter – a contest! Keep reading…the details will follow.

We’ve been intrigued by all the buzz about the “shift in consciousness”. Even if you don’t subscribe to this concept, there’s a good chance that you recently heard or read something about it.

So what is the shift in consciousness? Perhaps author Reba Cain describes it best: “As our consciousness vibrates at a higher level, our bodies and our world begin to vibrate at a higher rate, as well. Our bodies are becoming less and less dense, and expressing more as energy and light. This in turn causes us to experience our world at a higher vibration. As we move up the scale from fear, anger and pride to love, joy and peace, the events in our outer world change to match the level where we are vibrating in our body and consciousness. Another way to say this is that we are moving from a materialistic world to a spiritual world.”

So what should we be doing exactly to propel this shift along? In last month’s article, “Healing the Ecosystem Within,” Bioneers co-founder Nina Simons suggests: “One of the most powerful things each of us can do at this pivotal point is to claim full responsibility for our inner “story-scape”—to shift our personal story about the impacts we’re capable of having, what our capacity for action really is and how bringing ourselves in service to life at this moment can be meaningful, joyful and effective.

Our culture conditions us to be hard on ourselves, judging and comparing our talents and actions, while often valuing ourselves primarily based on our work or relationships. To be the most effective change agents we can be, I believe we need to reverse these patterns and learn to consider ourselves and all of life as sacred and inherently worthy of love.”

We can also release old habits that no longer serve us, express our authentic self, break away from the norm and make new beginnings, dissolve old attitudes, habits and beliefs that no longer serve us and imagine, visualize and dream our new goals.

We want to hear from our readers. Tell us what you feel we can do to accelerate the shift in consciousness in 100 words or less. The best entry will receive a $50 gift certificate from The B Hive Organic Salon, in Hillsdale. See their ad on page 5. Email your entry to nacontest@gmail.com. The winner will be announced in next month’s issue and have their submission published. Good luck!
