A Place of Healing in North Haledon
Any successful collective effort involves a group of people working together in an organized manner. Another name for this concept is community. A number of religious organizations and 12-step groups use the slogan, “Together we can do what I cannot do alone.” This phrase suggests many things; however, the main message here is that there is strength in numbers.
Politicians often speak about change, but few seldom deliver any real results that even resemble the word. Why? Because that’s not what most of them do. There are some good politicians that are servants of the people, but unfortunately many are self-serving; trading favors to big business for campaign dollars. So in the end, it’s up to us to cultivate change, first from within, and then externally. When the majority of us are healthy in mind, body and spirit, anything is possible. We are fortunate that the Bergen/Passaic community that this magazine serves offers more holistic and energy practitioners, organic and natural foods and green living solutions than in many other parts of our country.
In our travels, we meet many people that truly serve the community. One such person is Anita Mahi, of KG Divine Wellness & Beauty Center, in North Haledon. Anita has cultivated an aesthetically mesmerizing day spa that doubles as a wellness center and contains a small metaphysical shop, but the real allure of her place is the energy. It’s all love all the time. You can sense the vibe shift as soon as you walk in from the outside. Anita and her staff tell us that it’s a healing place open to all… even if you don’t come to spend money. Everyone is welcome to simply drop in, relax and rejuvenate, while leaving all their cares and concerns outside the doors.
We are co-hosting our first monthly open house under the Planet Jersey brand at Anita’s KG Divine from 1 to 4 p.m. on September 26. Point your GPS to 530 High Mountain Road, North Haledon, New Jersey, to reach us. Planet Jersey was a concept that Pat and I started to cultivate several years prior to publishing this magazine. Last week, we decided to use this memorable brand name to begin bringing all of us together… at first with monthly open house events at our advertisers’ places of business and later, who knows? The sky’s the limit.
However, it’s up to us, a community that is now beginning to come together, to bring ourselves to a position of strength and unity. Just remember that change requires some action. Are you interested in joining the effort? Then we’ll see soon you at an open house.
