Drumming Circle Event in Emerson
Congregation B’nai Israel, in Emerson, welcomes the joy and peace of Shabbat with songs, prayers, and an intergenerational drumming circle from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m., May 20, before the Erev Shabbat service at 8 p.m. Participants will employ instruments and imagination to enjoy the extraordinary blessings at the end of the Book of Leviticus. This service is open to the entire community, and no experience with the prayers or drumming is required.
Percussion is one of the most ancient forms of worship and expression. Children naturally gravitate to it and adults become child-like again as they enjoy keeping and changing the rhythm. Rabbi Debra Orenstein has received training in drumming as a healing art and participants can expect to leave uplifted and rejuvenated.
