Volunteers Needed for End-of-Life Doula Program in Hackensack
Hackensack University Medical Center will hold a volunteer end-of-life (EOL) doula training session from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., February 4 and 5, and again on March 25 and 26, in the John Theurer Cancer Center Conference Room.
This training session will teach participants how to comfort the dying and their families as they go through a very difficult experience. EOL doula training will have volunteers practice active listening, giving out companionship, creating a desired atmosphere and helping facilitate family rituals, life review and legacy work.
They will then be able to give much-needed relief to family members that have been exhausted by the demands of caregiving.
