New Paddling Center Opens on Earth Day
The Grand Opening of Hackensack Riverkeeper’s Van Buskirk island Paddling Center in Oradell will take place on April 23. The organization’s third center, a cooperative venture between the Riverkeepers and the Bergen County Parks Department, is located at Van Buskirk Island County Park.
The same day, the paddling centers at Overpeck Park, in Teaneck, and Laurel Hill Park, in Secaucus, will reopen for the 2022 season.
Riverkeeper Captain Bill Sheehan says, “We are so very much looking forward to the grand opening and for welcoming people of all ages back to the river. Nothing makes me happier than knowing the days are getting longer and we’ll soon be launching kayaks, leading river cleanups.”
