0The “Wave Speech”
Welcome to a new year of Natural Awakenings! We’re of the belief that we receive opportunities disguised as challenges in order to motivate us so that we can make the adjustments or changes that will better serve us and the planet. We’re sometimes quick to judge a situation as “bad” or “negative”. However, the seeds for change are often carried in the challenge of difficult times or situations. One of us was recently reminded of this by Berta Rodrigues of
HeartMight.com, a life coach, therapist, and new Natural Awakenings advertiser.
Many believe that the human race is currently experiencing a shift in consciousness, whereby we are all collectively shifting our very existence or reshaping reality. It could be occurring with the many people that are capitalizing on the challenges they are presented, allowing them to make the necessary changes to better care for themselves, those around them and the planet. When we do that, our thoughts and energy or “vibe” improves as well, which has a ripple effect on our entire dimension and potentially any other dimensions in or beyond the one we occupy.
We saw a shift, a movement, or wave in the 1960s that fell short of its intended goals, perhaps because at times the masses pushed their collective energy against real or perceived forces in order to try to drive change. This time, the wave is not one of confrontation. It’s a more intelligent, loving and sensible wave. Perhaps it will not roll back this time around.
The “wave speech”, a passage from the end of the eighth chapter of Hunter S. Thompson’s novel, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, in our opinion best captures the 60s hippie zeitgeist and its end. Here’s an excerpt:
“There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the Bay, then up the Golden Gate or down 101 to Los Altos or La Honda.… You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning…
And that, I think, was the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn’t need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting—on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave.…
So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.”
We wish you all the best for 2014!
