0Thyroid and Low Metabolic Energy
Symptoms of low metabolic energy include feeling tired, worn out or inexplicably cold, weight problems, dry skin, difficulty sleeping and poor memory. When the body is functioning correctly, exercise circulates the blood, oxygen is transported to the brain and fuel and hormones are delivered to the cells, enabling all the organs and systems to function at peak capacity.
The thyroid gland, located at the base of the neck, makes the hormone thyroxine (T4). T4 converts to triiodothyronine (T3) and RT3 (reverse T3). The T3 turns on the energy-making ATP, whereas RT3 slows it down. If thyroid function has been compromised due to external stressors such as toxins, too much stress, poor diet or infections, then we will have trouble creating metabolic energy, because it is the hormones produced in the thyroid gland that turn on the energy making mechanisms inside the cells that make ATP.
The result can be hormone imbalances, cellular degeneration, chronic inflammation, elimination problems, emotion and sleep disturbances and stressed organs, which together result in a wide range of sometimes seemingly inexplicable and unpleasant symptoms.
Restoring metabolic energy helps the body help itself by providing it with the energy it needs to function the way it should. Adopting proper nutrition protocols and mitochondrial support, eliminating toxins from vital organs and the bloodstream, learning how to avoid harmful exposure to electromagnetic interference, cellular repair therapy, neurological exercises and adjustments and treating underlying infections and tissue damage can go a long way in getting our body back to optimal efficiency, leaving us feeling energized and great.
