The Mirror of Love

2015 was an amazing year that brought many changes for both Pat and me. As I reflect upon it, I realize that what I enjoyed the most were the goods times I had with friends. We can’t take our money and other possessions with us when we die, but I’m certain that we get to keep our memories. With this in mind, I decided a while back that I would collect as many good memories as I could before I departed this current existence. Fortunately, I chose to surround myself with a wonderful cast of characters to accompany me during my current stint on planet Earth. It’s been a fantastic year, full of fun times, substantial personal growth and good service to my family, friends and community.

I’m conscious about why I chose the friends I have and also why I choose to connect with certain people in both work and play. I believe that a large part of me is the product of all the accumulated associations that have transpired throughout my entire life. We mirror each other’s virtues and not-so-virtuous traits so we can learn who we are, and if we’re very lucky, one day we’ll realize that our outside world mirrors our inside world and our everyday thoughts and feelings are represented in the environment around us. Happiness is an inside job. When you reach a point where you’re able to cultivate relentless love for yourself and all that is in your midst, the people and environment around you will mirror that love right back to you.
