0Earth Day Celebration in Ridgefield Park
The Hackensack Riverkeepers will hold their inaugural EarthFest celebration from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 26, at Overpeck County Park, in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, with a fishing derby, green events, live music, food, a pharmaceutical take-back, open kayaking, recovery and rescue demonstrations and a beer garden.
A Recycled Regatta will take place at 10 a.m., with signup and inspection at 8:30 a.m. Entrants are encouraged to come up with imaginative ways to turn common household waste into a lifeāsized racing vessel. The goal is to have fun on the Overpeck Creek while encouraging people to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Teams are encouraged to raise funds for Hackensack Riverkeeper by recruiting friends and family to sponsor their team. The team raising the most funds will receive a prize for all team members (up to 10 maximum). Proceeds benefit Hackensack Riverkeeper in their mission to protect, preserve and restore the Hackensack River.
Location: 199 Challenger Rd. For more information, call 201-968-0808, email Festival@hackensackriverkeeper.org or visit EarthFestOverpeck.com.
